Date: Tuesday, March 26, 2013 - 7:00 pm

Authors of The Royers of Renfrew, historical novels set in the early 1800s, will present a program about how early Pennsylvania Germans celebrated Easter.

Maxine Beck and Marie Lanser Beck, who have published two of three books about the real-life Pennsylvania German family, who ran an industrial farmstead on the site of what is now Renfrew Museum and Park, east of Waynesboro, will present the program on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room  of the Blue Ridge Summit Free Library.

The program is free and open to the public.

Origins of the Easter egg tree, the legend of the Easter Bunny, egg-dying techniques, the practices of various Germanic groups who settled the region, and the customs and folklore surrounding Easter will be discussed.

The sisters-in-laws from Waynesboro collaborated on A Family Tapestry and Threads of Change, books one and two in the series that explores the lives of Daniel and Catherine Royer and their 10 children through the eyes of 9-year-old Susan. The concluding book in the series, The Fabric of Life, will be published in September.
