SUBJECT: 2003 Summer Reading Program Kick-Off

Fort Loudon Community Library invites families throughout the county to attend the first summer reading event of the year. Andrew Roblin performs his banjo, mandolin, guitar, jaw harp, hammered dulcimer, and vocal music at noon on Saturday, May 10, onstage at Fort Loudon Community Grounds. His performance promotes summer library programs while actively involving families in a singing, clapping, yodeling, grunting, and dancing show.

Andrew Roblin, a veteran of Nashville, television, and radio, currently hails from Emmaus, PA. He earned the rank of #1 Canadian musician with folk DJs in 1997. His song "Foolproof" was performed on "Hee Haw" and he has appeared on two national television shows. Roblin's latest CD, "Perilous Pursuit," has had airplay on 1200 radio stations worldwide.

The event is sponsored by Franklin County Library System and Franklin County Family Literacy.

"Our goal with summer kickoff events is to bring cultural programming to families while letting children know that public libraries and reading are fun!" says Library System Executive Director Bernice Crouse. "Working together with Family Literacy has enabled us to bring high-quality family programming to new sites in the county. It's a great partnership that really benefits the children."

Andrew Roblin's concert follows a celebrity auction benefiting Fort Loudon Community Library. Both events are part of the Fort Loudon Spring Festival, sponsored by the town's Trinity United Church of Christ. The performance and auction will be surrounded by foodstands, a flea market and craft sale, and performances by other musical groups.
